    Job Description

    Visual & Motion Designer

    About Us

Tavus is a research lab pioneering human computing. We’re building AI Humans: a new

interface that closes the gap between people and machines, free from the friction of today’s

systems. Our real-time human simulation models let machines see, hear, respond, and even

look real - enabling meaningful, face-to-face conversations. AI Humans combine the

emotional intelligence of humans with the reach and reliability of machines, making them

capable, trusted agents available 24/7, in every language, on our terms.

Imagine a personal trainer that adapts to your schedule, a virtual assistant who can

understand and work around your emotional state. A fleet of medical assistants that can

give every patient the attention they need. With Tavus, individuals, enterprises, and

developers can all build AI Humans to connect, understand, and act with empathy at scale.

We’re a Series B company backed by world-class investors including Sequoia Capital, Y

    Combinator, and Scale Venture Partners.

Be part of shaping a future where humans and machines truly understand each other.

    The Role

We are seeking a talented, passionate, initiative-taking, and product-minded Visual and

Motion Designer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of

human-computer interaction, enabling users to create meaningful AI-first products such as

digital companions, employees and agents, emphasizing authentic human connections and

    interactions.

You will collaborate with a diverse team in a fast-paced environment, contributing to all

stages of the design process, from concept to implementation, to bring novel interactive

    experiences to life.

Join our small, creative team of designers, engineers, and product enthusiasts dedicated to

thoughtfully bridging the human-machine divide. We’re doing it right, sweating the details,

    and we’re in it together.

This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

    What You'll Do

Architect a scalable motion language: Define the visual physics and kinetic identity of our

"human layer" across any surface - web, mobile, or desktop - ensuring the experience feels

unified, whether the user is at a workstation or on the go.

Choreograph ambient presence: Solve the interaction design challenges of a persistent AI

companion. You will define how the interface seamlessly transitions between active focus,

passive monitoring, and backgrounded states without disrupting the user’s flow.

Systematize the interaction layer: Translate complex OS-level concepts like navigation, app

launching, and window management into intuitive, native-feeling UI patterns that work as

well on a touchscreen as they do with a mouse and keyboard.

Design the stage for human computing & connection: Create and evolve the structural UI

framework that houses the conversational interface. Think flexible containers, sidebars, and

overlays that support the video experience, ensuring the UI enhances and supports genuine

    human computing connection.

Craft novel, satisfying, micro-interactions: Own the fidelity of the functional UI. You will

ensure that every toggle, menu, and transition feels responsive and premium, grounding a

futuristic AI experience in familiar, satisfying interaction patterns.

    Who You Are

4+ years of Product Design experience with a specialized portfolio in Visual Systems and

Motion Design. You have a track record of shipping complex, interactive interfaces, not just

    static pages.

A cross-platform Systems Thinker: You understand how to translate a design language

across different modalities. You can take a core interaction concept and adapt it natively for

    different device constraints.

Master of spatial UI: You are comfortable designing interfaces that rely on layering, floating

elements, and dynamic states. You understand how to manage UI density and hierarchy in

    always-on applications.

Nuanced with status & feedback: You know how to design non-intrusive visual cues that

keep the user informed of system status without overwhelming their cognitive load.

Technical & adaptive: You are comfortable collaborating with engineering to implement

motion standards in diverse environments, from modern web frameworks to native mobile

    codebases.

Thrives in ambiguity: You don't need a fully detailed spec to get started. You are excited to

take high-level prompts like, "how does this AI live on a phone?" and explore the solution

    space through design and motion.

    Benefits & Culture

When you join Tavus, you’re joining a diverse and supportive team. Our work is driven by

our people, and our success is shared by all. This position has a flexible work schedule,

unlimited PTO, competitive healthcare, and gear stipends, as well as plenty of fun. At the

end of the day, we want Tavus to be a place for you to learn, directly drive impact, and work

    with a team you love.

Tavus is growing fast, and we’d like you to grow with us. If you’re excited to get your hands

dirty and help make machines more human, drop your resume and we’ll be in touch.

We are not looking for cultural fits, we are looking for culture creators. Diversity is what

drives our success – it’s at the core of how we hire, communicate, and work. We are

inclusive to all and combine our diverse backgrounds, skill sets, and perspectives to build

the best experiences for our clients.
