About Guava
Guava: Voice agent API for regulated phone calls
Guava is a voice agent API built for calls in regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, banking, BPO and government. Developers write the call logic in code with Python and TypeScript SDKs, while Guava runs speech recognition, turn-taking and speech synthesis on its own stack. Formerly Gridspace, the team has run regulated voice deployments since 2013.
Key Features
- Code, not prompts: agents are built with handlers, tasks and checklists of fields to collect, so rules are versioned, tested and reviewed like any other code instead of growing a long system prompt.
- Python and TypeScript SDKs: define an agent, register handlers on call events and steer the live call with commands; slow work such as database lookups runs off the real-time dialog thread.
- One in-house voice stack: speech-to-text, turn-taking with interruption handling and text-to-speech are built and run by Guava rather than stitched from third-party vendors.
- CLI from install to deploy: install, create, run locally and deploy with a few commands; Guava says a working agent takes about 10 minutes.
- Real telephony: agents attach to phone numbers, WebRTC or SIP, with wideband 16 kHz audio end to end on supported carriers.
- Compliance on every plan: SOC 2 Type II, HITRUST i1 and PCI DSS Level 1, with a BAA available for healthcare; reports are shared under MNDA.
- Fallback and escalation: when one path to a task fails the agent tries another, re-asks or hands off to a human with full context.
- Embeddable for AI companies: vertical AI products can add voice on Guava's runtime with their own prompts and data.
- Enterprise deployment: 14 days from kickoff to first live call, a 99.9% uptime SLA, and on Enterprise a forward deployed engineer and dedicated infrastructure options.
Use Cases
- Healthcare: patient intake, prior authorization, chart chase and revenue cycle follow-up calls.
- Insurance: first notice of loss, claims intake, renewals and eligibility questions.
- Financial services: KYC, loan servicing and collections calls.
- BPO and government: high-volume contact center queues, benefits, permits and public outreach.
